MY HONEY BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS: HAIR DIARIES

For all those who know me personally, are well aware how I switch up my hair routine every now and then. I go through super short hair phases and there are times when I get some color on my hair. My hair is naturally wavy-curly and is black in color. Did I mention its extremely dry. I have subjected my hair to various Chemical Treatments over the years like Rebonding and Color. So I make sure I take utmost care of my hair even with a  toddler in tow.

While in my younger days, I have been guilty of all sorts of color on my hair, nowadays I stick to just about a similar color scheme, if I am adding color. Still remember how someone called me a Carrot Top for me being a Red Head for some time. I also remember how a certain senior Professor at Calcutta University had once told me, that I would get nowhere ahead in academics with my blonde long hair. Its a different story that I went ahead to Top the University with record numbers. Yes,hair color and stereo typing is what I have faced a lot. But that has never deterred me from doing what I want and how I want to look. We have all been guilty of such wild color days, aren't we?!

Over the last few years, I have been preferring Warm Honey Blonde Or Golden Highlights as they go well with my warm undertone. There are times when I have gone for Chunkier Highlights and there are times when I have opted for the normal thin highlights. It all depends on the time of the year and my current mood. If its Summer, then I opt for Chunkier Highlights and if its colder, then I opt for thinner highlights. Gives that wonderful sun kissed Hair but packs in a pinch as well.

Honey Blonde highlights look best when your hair is flat ironed,at least for me. But I must admit even on days when I let my hair air dry and embrace its natural texture, the color does wonders.

I have a wonderful Hair Stylist AMANDA POGUE who owns and operates STUDIO A SALON in Overland Park. (Here's Amanda in the picture above) .She is undoubtedly one of Kansas City's Best. She has been doing my hair  and my husband Debashish's hair, for the last five years, and is just wonderful. We will always discuss at length, for days, through chats , texts or calls, as to what I am looking forward to. So by the time we get to the actual appointment date and in our final consultation, both of us are on the same page, of what we want to achieve. If you have a hair stylist like Amanda, then you need to worry less,as she always delivers a wonderful job.

We were going for our Beach Holiday a couple of months back, and I decided to get some color back in my hair. Warm Blonde Highlights it had to be, as that would look wonderful in the sun, sand and surf.

For highlights, there are a few procedures. But we decided to stick to Old School. Yes we opted for FOILS.

Amanda did my Foils with some lightener from L'anza, and let it process for the required amount of time. This was my first experience with L'anza Hair Colors or Lighteners . She washed and conditioned my hair and flat ironed it.

I had previously used L'oreal and Redken Hair Colors. Both of these hair colors are a bit old school and are lot harsher, I feel . L'anza on the other hand, is much gentler on the hair and fades away more naturally. No, this is not a paid promotion of L'anza. All the services were paid in full my me, are not an advertisement by any chance.

Hair Color requires a strict maintenance. Sulphate free Color Protect Shampoos and conditioners help the color from fading away. I use the Redken Color Extend Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave iN Conditioner as my hair is very dry. A Drug Store option is L'oreal sulphate Free Color Care Shampoo and Conditioners.
