KCFW'FW 22 - MEDIA NIGHT - A RECAP

Fashion - Beauty and a whole lotta fun! That’s exactly how we kickstarted the 21st Season of Kansas City Fashion Week . I have lost track of the number of seasons I have covered KCFW as official media, but every season is special in its own way! From designer previews to the click of the wine glasses, from the sound of laughter to the excitement of the week ahead - The Media Night of KCFW at Ulta Beauty was all this and more!

So what inspires a runway collection? Let’s see what some of our KCFW designers had to say about their new season:

Blue Orchid Art Jewelry- Multiculturalism. KCFW is such a wonderful platform to meet new and old faces. It was so wonderful to meet jewelry designer Lan, who mentioned her journey across the globe and how it inspired her wearable art - her jewelry line! This will be the first time that she will be showing at KCFW!

Little Jo Designs- Gothic. Jo Hartley is a favorite of mine, and it's no secret. I love how she creates drama and romance through her designs. While her last collection was inspired by fairy tales, Jo mentioned that her latest collection is all Goth-inspired. Dresses with camo boots - I am on board!

Jeanne Nuagge - Dressing Every Woman. Designer Jennifer Tierney finds the perfect balance of fashion and comfort. She mentioned how she took a break from one season of runway shows, to listen to her audience. She wanted to dress every woman. So in her runway show, her youngest model is 11 while her oldest is 60, and Jennifer will be dressing them in her signature style!

Reduce Fashion - Sustainable Fashion. It's always refreshing to hear about sustainability in fashion! The designers of Reduce - Katie & Hannah, mentioned how they were inspired by quilting patterns and re-using and re-imagining fabrics.

Regal Status- 90s Hip Hop . Who doesn't love the bling and fashion of 90s hip hop?

Gracie Key Designs - High Fashion & Sustainability

Uzuri Closet - Re-imagining What We Wear To A Ball

KCFW  runway shows return to Union Station KC from Wednesday, August 31 to Saturday, September 3. Tickets are available on the website if you wanted to be a part of one of the biggest weeks of fashion, in the Midwest!

Thank you, Eli Stack, Alex Todd, Deni Mahoney, and Katie Van Luchine for my photos from the event.

90s STRAIGHT LEG JEANS ARE BACK : EXPRESS STYLE FILES

Re-imagining the classic 90s Straight Ankle Jeans as Business Casual for this month’s outfit post with EXPRESS!

It’s always a fun styling challenge when you have to re-imagine a Retro Style in a modern avatar. I love styling jeans for work, so the 90s Straight Leg was a great choice. I paired it with a Satin Portofino Shirt with some ruffle details to add a chic touch. Pink statement earrings, some fun pink heels, and a touch of animal print to complete the ensemble. Pairing jeans with something formal like the satin shirt give it a edgy-chic vibe. The satin portofino shirt is also From express, but its older. I have linked similar ones below. My Jeans is now available at a discount, and is linked below.

I think for us petites, straight leg jeans do come with their share of design challenges. I love opting for a ankle length version of straight leg jeans. A second trick is to pair them with heels, which makes my legs look longer, without me drowning in fabric.

All Jeans at Express are now BOGO 50% off.

COOPER'S HAWK WINERY & RESTAURANT: EATING OUT

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant opened their newest location in Lees Summit, on August 1st and I had the opportunity to dine-in with my family, at their soft-opening! Inspired by Napa valley, Cooper's hawk presents a wine-driven dining experience. They bring together 4 different experiences under one roof -  upscale dining, full-service bar, private dining , Napa-style tasting room, and a gift shop!

We started off our evening tasting some wine and with their Pretzel Bread!

Rii opted for the all-American Cheeseburger for her entree!

After tasting a few different wines, along with their Barrel Reserve, I opted for Romance Red and Deb opted opted Vin Chocolat Almond, from Cooper's Hawk Winery!

For our appetizer, we opted for Asian Porkbelly Tostadas. It was almost like a doctructed version of it, but made for a great bite.

For my entree, I opted for the Grilled tenderloin Medallion Trio. They were topped by horseradish, Cheddar and Blue Cheese. Paired with the most decadent mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Loved how juicy the tenderloin medallions were.

Deb opted for the Soy Ginger Atlantic Salmon!

For our dessert we opted for Key Lime Pie and Caramel Creme Brûlée !

We finished off our night with some more Romance Red from Cooper's Hawk and some Chocolate Espresso Martini! Must mention that we loved the modern decor and the service quality. we had an amazing time, and can't wait to be back soon!

Thanks Cooper's Hawk Winery and Kincaid PR for hosting us!
