TRANSITIONING TO SPRING WITH CAPES : FASHION

We have had a few warm days in February, which got me in the mood to transition to Spring. Outfits which help you transition between seasons, always interest me. Capes or ponchos are a great transitional piece. I have  a few capes in my collection, which I reach out for at this time to the year or when we are transitioning to fall. They can be layered under a turtle neck, if you want more warmth. Or belted up to look more chic. This particular cape is from Target which I had picked up last year. As it is in Black and White, it makes it more versatile when it comes to pairings. I paired it over a powder blue chiffon sleeveless top from Express and some light Jeggings from American Eagle. Grey suede booties . Its an oft repeated Cape at this time of the year and I love it.

WHAT I WORE FOR NYE : OOTD

Hello everyone !! Hope all of you had a wonderful New Year. For me , the year ended on a rough note. While I was about to enter the New Year Eve party(after these photos were taken), i slipped on black ice and fell. It was a nasty fall, and my elbow is busted. No, I was not drunk, nor was I wearing sky high heels. Its just me and my luck with accidents.

Coming back to what I wore for the New Year Eve party. Sorry about the pictures with the Baby Gates. We were in a rush to be out of the house. We had been back from our road trip just a few hours back and got ready for the party that night. But I didn't want to miss the opportunity to have my Hubby take a few quick Outfit pictures. In the rush, completely forgot to review the pictures or check the backdrop.  I wanted a touch of glitter but not be a disco ball. And I wanted to wear this skirt I had recently picked up. So I decided to play up the monochromes with this Black Windowpane Plaid Skirt from Express (Its now at half price at Clearance) and this Sequined Tank from Express . I added color to the outfit with my accessories. I opted for Turquoise jewelry and a royal blue pair of pumps(not shown in any pic) . Some basic black tights from H & M. For my make up, I had to use MAC's Ruby Woo. So for the eyes, I used Urban Decay's Baked eyeshadow  on the inner half of the eye lid and MAC's Beauty Marked on the outer corner. Urban Decay's Buck and Naked on the crease. Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof Mascara and MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack. For my base I had used the Make Up Forever Ultra HD foundation after I had gotten a second color match done at Sephora. The first color despite being so called color matched made me look like orange like an Oompa Loompa. MAC Prolongwear concealer , MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Natural and Milani Luminoso Blush added the finishing touches.

I did spend some time at the party, despite my busted elbow.

WHAT I WORE FOR CHRISTMAS EVE : HOLIDAY OOTD

Hello everyone. Hope all of you had a great Christmas. I had hosted a Christmas Eve party for my friends this year. Yes, we hung up our travelling shoes this time around and decided to do something different. As it was Christmas Eve, I decided on a Red theme party. All my guests loved the idea and got really creative with their outfits.

For me, few things shout out Christmas more than the Classic Christmas plaid. I was planning on picking up similar plaid shirts for all three of us. But the idea of wearing denim for a Holiday party was not that appealing to me. And plaid shirts can be quite androgynous. I needed to feminize the outfit, besides co-ordinating it with the Classic Red lip and light gold eyes. This ivory full midi skirt was just perfect. Being high waisted with a touch of shine, it was a great contrast to the classic plaid. Paired it with basic black tights. Compliments were flowing all night and I could not stop gushing and blushing. What plans for New Years for you all?

RED AND BLACK: HOLIDAY PARTY OOTD

'Tis the Holidays and we all have our calendars full. Office parties, Pictures with Santa with your kiddo, entertaining at home, and so on. A touch of red seems obvious, when you are planning outfits. The only thing which can compete with the touch of Reds, is a splash of sequins of glitter.

I decided to stick to Red for now. We had to take my daughter for her Meeting with Ole Saint Nick and do some pictures later on. The Man and our toddler were all co-ordinated in Plaid and black. While I was saving up my new plaid for another get together, I went ahead for the Red and Black theme to co-ordinate with them. A red chiffon top with some extra ruffles never hurt anyone. Threw over a Cape like Sweater or should I call it a Poncho, I had picked up from Target. It was Ebony and Ivory in all its glory. Paired it with my dark wash Jeggings and to off set it, went for grey suede ankle boots. The idea was to let the red and black elements of the outfit shine through.

I had to wear a Classic Red Lip. MAC Ruby WOO, it had to be, for sure. I skipped the customary smokey eyes, I usually always sport and went for something more subtle. A wash of Champagne gold on the lids with some soft brown on the crease and outer corner. Slightly bold eyebrows, black gel liner and loads of black waterproof Mascara. A wash of my favorite Peachy Blush. We were all set.

BIRTHDAY OOTD : CARDIGAN WRAP

I love December. Its the Holidays. Its time to meet family and friends. And its time for my birthday. I mean its like perfect. I am one of those people, who is still a kid at heart when it comes to birthday. I like it when friends and family make the extra effort to add in their small touches to make the day even more special.

Winter Birthdays mean a chance to layer up. As the weather has been on the cooler side for the last few days, I decided to go for one of my cardigans. I had picked this from my local Target. Yes, we are all guilty of those long Target hours when all we needed was a gallon of milk. This is a beautiful piece with some Aztec tones and prints. And it has a hood , to keep you warm if its windy. For me ,the hood is hidden when my leave my hair open. I wanted to belt it up and give it some shape. Don't get me wrong, I love the slouchy feel of this and might even wear it that way next time. As it was my birthday, I just wanted to accentuate a bit of shape in the outfit. So I belted it with a broad belt along the empire line. I had layered a black tank below it, as sweaters need something below them, I feel. Just my random thoughts, as sometimes sweaters can get itchy.

Paired it with my trusty navy jeggings from American Eagle and some old black leather boots from Steve Madden.

Also wanted to flaunt my birthday gift from Hubby: My red Ralph Lauren Bucket Bag . I am in love with it for sure. The red bag played up the amber tones of the cardigan.

I was warm , and I received a lot of compliments. Happy the way the outfit turned out. I had meant to don a necklace, but in the  rush to be out of the house with a toddler, I complete forgot about it. My saving grace were my two sets of silver earrings.

I know the pictures are not great.  I was earning the flak from my husband from lugging around a DSLR everywhere I go. I love taking pictures, I cant help it. So we bought a smaller NIKON, to help us with vlogging as well. But it seems, its not that great, as we thought it would be. As that was also a birthday gift from the man, let me not complain much. The man literally went overboard with the amount of things he picked up for me, this year.

DENIM ON DENIM : FALL FASHION STAPLES

Recently I was at a  Blogger Meet up, where I was chatting with one of my Blogger buddies. And we both realized that there are so many posts which we mean to write, or even start writing, but the Publish button is not pressed for those posts. I am super guilty of this. And if the posts happen to be seasonal, there are chances that you might even forget about them, next year.

I am super guilty of this behavior, or storing posts in my draft, or taking pictures and planning  post and not going ahead with it. So this time around, I thought, lets try and change that habit .

I had shot for this post, at the beginning of Fall this year. We had been on the annual Pumpkin Patch visits and I asked the Man to take a few pictures of my ensemble. Denim on denim is a classic Fall staple. No way am I referring to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake denim craziness. in fact  had done a post on Men's fashion a few months back, on how to do Denim on Denim . You can read about it Here .

My denim jacket is one that I had picked out from H &M this year. I was looking for something cropped and the rose gold detailing on the jacket, sealed the deal for me. I paired it with an orange and blue shirt from Gap and my American Eagle Jeggings. I was playing up with blues and orange in this outfit choice as an ode to the venue. So I bring for you, a Fall Fashion post, when we are almost on the last days of Fall. Its a no nonsense combo for me,which always adds that extra touch.  I had rolled down my Steve Madden Boots, to reveal their plaid interiors. A touch of Plaid never hurt anyone. My trusty Rayban Wayfarers to complete the ensemble.

WHAT I WORE FOR KCFW DAY 3 : UNION STATION : OOTD

I have a thing for Full Skirts. But I am also very particular about them. They just have to have the right amount of flair for my petite frame. So its not always that I get a great skirt which I can pair to my heart's delight. So when I found this red flared skirt, I wanted to buy it in every color available. But judgement and my purse strings prevailed and I just picked out the brightest cherry red.

This skirt is a statement in itself for its color and cut. So it seemed to be the perfect anchor for my ensemble for KCFW Day 3. I paired it with a black and white printed blouse and my trust Leopard pumps. Somehow wanted to carry the graphics of the print in the top to the spots on my Leopard pumps. The red was supposed to break the monotony of the prints.

For my accessories, I opted for my Valkyrie Wings from Juicy Couture and a set of silver chains from H&M .

I knew this Day screamed out for MAC RUBY WOO lipstick . What else would you pair with that killer skirt. It had to be something iconic .  for my yes, it was Smokey Eyes once again. And yes, Urban Decay Naked 1 palette again. The colors I had selected were Sidecar and Creep. Th rest was my basic Make up Tourine with eth regulars.

WHAT I WORE FOR KCFW DAY 2 - FAIR & FASHIONABLE : OOTD

Who doesn't love a good LBD ? I know I do. So when the invite for the KCFW SS'16 Day 2 came with a  request to wear black, I knew I had to bring out my flirty LBD.

Kansas City Fashion Week SS'16 moved the runways for Day 2. The signature shows at Union Station began with a special message. To spread awareness for Melanoma, Kansas City fashion week management had partnered with Fair and Fashionable. From the guests wearing Black to taking a pledge to go tanker, it was all about celebrating your natural skin. According to the Mayo Clinic, 2,00,000 to 3,00,000 people are diagnosed with Skin cancer every year.

I had picked up a flirty skater LBD which seemed perfect for the occasion. I wanted to pair Pinks and Blacks for the night. Thats a combination which is very close to my heart. Two of my all time favorite colors, brought together to glam up things. For my accessories, I had my trusty bag from Coach which had almost 50 Shades of Pink in it.

To bling up the outfit, I dished out Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace in Rose Gold and Magenta. Paired it with my Kendra Scott Double Ring in Bronze Drusy . Some old Gold Filigree Earrings and my Gun Metal Citizen Eco Drive Watch.

For my shoes, I wanted something similar to my Bag. Pink, Flirty, prints all thrown together, with just the perfect amount of heels for the night. These Satin Floral Heels from Touch of Nina - Off Broadway Shoes

Yes, I played up the Pinks in my Make up too. Pink Eye shadow can be tricky. If not done well, it can give an impression that your eyes are bruised. I started off with my basic base of Clinique Beyond Perfecting Skin Foundation in Golden Neutral, MAC ProlongWear Concealer in NW 20 , MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium  and Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original

Then for my eyes, I used MAC EyeShadow in Swish MAC Eyeshadow in Swish from the inner corner to the middle. Then I used MAC Eye Shadow in Nocturnelle from the middle to the outer corner. Then I used the cold Naked from Urban Decay Naked 1  as a transition color in my crease. Its almost the same color s my natural skin tone. MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and Maybelline Volum Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara to complete the eyes. NARS Orgasm Blush and MAC Kelly Yum Yum lipstick. I know the lipstick is a limited edition one, but you could also use MAC Candy Yum Yum
