MUSTARD SWEATER & STRAIGHT LEG JEANS: EMBRACING COLOR FOR FALL

Embracing the quintessential colors of Fall in my outfit! Mustard Yellow is a favorite of mine and I love styling it for Fall. I am sure you'll remember my Mustard Dress post from a  few years back, which I had worn for one of the nights for KCFW. Or how I had styled this Sweater with a leather skirt, a few years ago, for Thanksgiving. Mustard is one of those colors, which is a fall staple, in my books. 

I love jeans any day of the year, so when the temps dropped here in KC, I had to put together a jeans and sweater outfit.Paired the mustard sweater with my Straight Leg Jeans from Express, for my weekend outfit. I think for us petites, straight leg jeans do come with their share of design challenges. I love opting for a ankle length version of straight leg jeans. A second trick is to pair them with heels, which makes my legs look longer, without me drowning in fabric. Also, my new sunglasses from Eb & Co, have been on steady rotation all week. My jeans from Express are 40% off this weekend! 90s STRAIGHT LEG JEANS ARE BACK : EXPRESS STYLE FILES

 

Re-imagining the classic 90s Straight Ankle Jeans as Business Casual for this month’s outfit post with EXPRESS! 

 It’s always a fun styling challenge when you have to re-imagine a Retro Style in a modern avatar. I love styling jeans for work, so the 90s Straight Leg was a great choice. I paired it with a Satin Portofino Shirt with some ruffle details to add a chic touch. Pink statement earrings, some fun pink heels, and a touch of animal print to complete the ensemble. Pairing jeans with something formal like the satin shirt give it a edgy-chic vibe. KC DAISY TEE OOTD: SHOP SMALL STYLE FILES

 

My heart is always torn between Kolkata and Kansas City ! And I wear my heart on my sleeve, almost. The Kansas City Daisy Tee from Jill Marie Tees has been my Summer staple! From shorts to linen pants, from the lake to the beach, it has traveled with me all Summer long, all across the Midwest and India. The best part of this T-shirt is the fact is how friendly it is to moms like me, who might have a lil mom pouch. My body isn’t the same as it was years ago, and I appreciate how brands are now focusing on real bodies. Have you visited the Jill Marie Tee storefront at Zona Rosa KC , yet ? LEATHER PANTS FOR SPRING

 

Leather Pants, but make it Green for Spring! I know leather or faux leather, is generally associated with Fall, but it can be a great choice for Spring, too. It’s all about styling it right. So a white sweatshirt gives it a fresh touch as we continue our countdown to Spring! Also, most of my OOTD is Target, except for my necklace by @shop_annie_austen and earrings by @eb.and.co ! How’s that for a balance of biz box shopping and supporting your favorite local small businesses.

 I fell in love with these green faux leather pants late last year. They are high rise and the ankle crop makes it a perfect choice for a petite like me. Did I mention how comfy these pants are!

BLUES & WHITES FOR SPRING: EXPRESS STYLE FILES

 

Blues & Whites and all the Spring vibes! Definitely, one of my favorite color combos when I am dreaming of warmer days!  When it comes to styling blues and whites, I don’t think I can ever get tired of this classic combo. The last few days with the temps in the 60s had me thinking of early Spring. And now am trying my best to ignore the flurries outside. 

For this month's outfit post with Express, I reached out for some color and some drama. Have always been a fan of blouses/tops with feminine details. The ruching on this top creates a wonderful silhouette, which makes it very apt for Spring break or resort wear in general. I have styled this top with white skinny jeans, as I love them throughout the year. You could also style this with denim shorts, a leather mini, or even mom jeans. It's definitely a statement piece, hence I kept the accessories to basics.

BLAZER,SKINNY JEANS & A TOUCH OF PINK : VALENTINE'S DAY OOTD

 

Happy Valentine's Day! It’s also a Monday! So here’s my OOTD, with another installment of “Workwear Chic.” And yes, it’s an outfit I created by shopping my closet. 

I love jeans and I love Blazers! Throw in a pink or red top and some fun shoes, and you have an outfit which can take you from the staff meeting to the classroom party of your kiddo and then off to dinner with your significant other! SILK & LEATHER: VALENTINE'S DAY OOTD

When Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday, you think of “Workwear Chic,” as your aesthetic! It’s always fun to come up with new combination for pieces I already own. Outfits which are mom-bod friendly and don’t require spanx earn special brownie points in my book. And this is a perfect example, of an outfit which will take me from my Monday meetings at the workplace to the happy hour with hubs right after! 

I love repeating outfits, more so my favorite pieces. This outfit is a classic example of how silk can pair well with leather. You have feminism with a touch of edge. Since I am petite, I have been loving the trend of ankle crop pants and mom jeans. They are a good break from my regular skinny jeans. I paired my outfit with some pink leather earrings from Nickel and Suede and white leather boots! SEQUINS FOR NEW YEAR EVE: EXPRESS STYLE FILES

Happy New Year everyone! Hope all of you had a great start to the new year. This is our first week bac, after our vacation to Nashville and Panama City Beach! Road tripping from the Midwest to the beach is always exciting, especially when its with kids and dogs. We had a kid friendly NYW celebrations in Panama City Beach, and of course I had to get dressed. What better time than to whip ut your brand new sequined dress! For me, shimmer and shine is always a good idea for NYW, and especially if its black.
