DENIM SHIRT DRESS: FALL STYLE DIARIES

Its Fall-perfect weather all week long, and I couldn't help but put together an outfit post! I have been a bundle of nerves, since its election day tomorrow. Shall be praying so that everyone can exercise their right to vote and be safe! Can't deny certain anxiety hanging in the air!

Coming down to the outfit, I love shirt dresses if you didn't know that already! And I love denim any time of the year! So when its denim shirt dress, it's a win-win! Paired my denim shirt dress with one of my favorite scarves with some amazing Fall tones to it! Black felt hat, black booties, silver hoops, and burgundy lipstick - we are ready to roll! When it gets a bit colder, I could add in fur vest and over the knee boots to this outfit!

PLEATED SKIRT, GRAPHIC TEE, DENIM JACKET - FALL FASHION

Fall is here and I realized in a hot minute that I hadn't done an outfit post in the blog! Right now, the weather in KC is a mix of warmer days and cooler mornings. The perfect mix almost. So light layering and I am good for the day.

One of my favorite outfit combos in Fall is to pair a skirt, graphic tee, and a denim jacket. brownie points if the skirt is a pleated midi skirt. I have such a weakness for everything pleated, as you had seen in my last outfit post on the blog. It just elevates any outfit, I believe. This yellow pleated skirt is an oldie but a goodie. I had probably bought it three years ago when I was outfit planning for a season of Kansas City Fashion Week. Have worn it also for a few other special occasions, and this skirt has always been a conversation starter. Since this season for KCFW has been a virtual one, I still needed a few outfit posts on my blog.

Graphic tees are another favorite, as I love pairing them with shorts and a blazer, or denim or skirts. They are that fun element in your outfit. This particular graphic te is a new one, and a special one, as it was a Mother's Day gift from my children and their dad.

Whenever I write about fashion/style or outfit planning on my blog, I always mention classics. A classic is a wardrobe staple, that you invest in, and which sees you through years/seasons. They are versatile pieces, which can be styled so many ways. A denim jacket is one such classic wardrobe staple, I believe everyone should have in their closet. The one I am wearing here is a slightly cropped version, but I do also have a slightly oversized, boxier one too.

Outfit planning is all about maintaining the balance of volume. Which in simple words means, if you have something voluminous, pair it with something more fitted to offset it/ to complement it. In this case, the flowy skirt is complemented by the fitted jacket.

Let's talk accessories, shall we? Since it is still warm, I decided to wear espadrilles. If it was cooler, I would worn leggings and booties with this outfit. Some silver earrings and some deep plum lipstick - MAC Rebel!

Last but not least, is the location chosen for these photos! I usually used to take outfit photos in front of the red brick wall, in front of our older home, or in front of the taupe colored garage door. I know garage doors are a universal choice for bloggers for taking their outfit photos. Till my friend and fab photographer, Bodhi ( Bodhipix on Instagram) asked me to think beyond the garage door. So here is a try in taking some pictures in my background, with the last of the late summer blooms. I shall keep experimenting a bit more with locations close to home.

LEATHER JACKET WITH STAR STUDS

A Leather Jacket is an investment. Its a staple for anyone's closet. And I have a thing for leather jackets, which is evident from my collection. Leather jackets can take any outfit from being drab, and give it an edge. I love pairing my skirts and dresses with tights in winter and leather jackets. And if you ask me about my uniform from Fall to Spring, then leather jackets feature heavy in it. I love how versatile they can be, and the endless possibilities of styling them, as the weather changes.

While I love my colored leather jackets, it is my black leather jackets, which hold pride of place, in my closet. Last year, I had picked up this amazing faux leather jacket with star studs. I just fell in love with the detailing on this jacket.  It was love at first sight, and the love story continues strong enough. I had been waiting to feature it on my blog, for a year and finally had time to get some quick pictures done.

I wanted the leather jacket to be the star of the outfit, so I paired neutrals as much as I could. Charcoal skinny jeans and a grey sweater created just right canvas for the leather jacket to shine. And Leopard is a neutral, right. My $40 Leopard Booties are still in great shape, even in their second year. Berry lips and red nails, and we were all set to take on the evening.

How do you like styling your leather/faux leather jackets?

BOOZY AND SCHMOOZY NIGHT OUT AT FRANKIE & JULES BOUTIQUE

Who doesn't love an evening out with their girlfriends? I know as much as I love that, I have not been able to manage that as often, as my heart would have wanted. So in one my busiest weeks so far, I thought of taking away a few moments, to pen down about a fun evening, I had, with some of my blogger babes.

Frankie and Jules Boutique, hosted Boozy and Schmoozy Night Out, along with KC Style Trio. It was a weeknight with the vibes of the weekend. I had been planning to go to the boutique, for some time, and the invite just came at the right time.

Mother-daughter duo, Jan Morgan and Julia Rice, created Frankie and Jules in 2006. They started out with pop-up parties, and are now in their second location at the intersection of 159th and Metcalf in Overland Park. If you cannot make it to the boutique in person, then I have linked the website for you to shop online.

They have the cutest range of affordable fashion-forward attire. It was fun to scope the cutest outfits and carry on a mega try on sesh! From shag jackets to tweed blazers, from chic jumpsuits to sky-high boots, they had something for everyone.  It was hard to choose from when you love almost love everything. I picked out the cutest sweater, which I finally wore on my birthday.
The wine was flowing and the party was on, as we shopped our way through the evening. Besides the cutest outfits and accessories and shoes, they had the cutest collection of home decor items.
It was really nice to meet so many lovely ladies in one evening. Blogger babes are surely the best.
Thank you, Frankie and Jules and KC Style Trio for hosting such a fun night. This Momma really needed it!

BROWN SUEDE JACKET FOR FALL

Its Sunday, which means its time for a brand new Outfit Post. My posts are usually scheduled and go up on time, as I hate missing schedules. But the last few days, have been very adventurous for us. From a family of 3, we became a family of 4. "Blaze," my furry son is home.

It was our first weekend with him, and we enjoyed every bit of it. Now to try and get back to the routine, or should we say create a new routine, for this family of 4. Sundays mean a New Blog Post and since its still Sunday, I thought of sharing about my latest Jacket Crush.

The Brown Suede Jacket is clearly one of my most worn items this Fall. I love how it can make any outfit look so chic. You can pair it with those Summer dresses, and tights and booties, and be ready for Fall. I am more of a denim girl, so I had to style it with denims.

Its always tricky when you are trying to pair black and brown . For many its a No-No. But I love doing it. I paired my Brown Suede Jacket with a black sleeveless blouse from Express. Its all about the details, in any outfit. The leather paneling on this top, gives it that edge. I carried forward the brown-tan tones in the outfit, with my 90's style Brown Lips , my Jord Wood Watch and my leopard Pumps. Leopard and Black are both neutrals. The black of the top, ties in with the black notes of the leopard . The blue ripped denim adds a much needed pop of cooler tones in the outfit, to balance the warmer tones.

Its effortless and chic and I love it. So are you adding a Brown Suede Jacket to your Black Friday Shopping list? I think you should.

THE LITTLE BLACK (TSHIRT) DRESS

The Little Black dress is always a good idea and you can never have too many of them. You cannot beat their versatility. I have a fondness for Tshirt dresses, for the comfort they offer. You can literally lounge in them,  or run around a toddler, or even rush out to grab that much needed drink with your girl friends. As Summer was rolling in, I had done a post on a Graphic Tshirt Dress, so I knew a post on a basic black Tshirt dress was due on the blog. I wear it almost every week, but had not featured it as an Outfit Post.

I had a super tough time, in laying my hands on this dress. I did have a older version of this, which due to wear and tear, wasnt much of a looker. So i was on the look out for one, which was comfy, yet didnt look like a pillow. It had a rich color tone, which didnt bleed, or it didnt show up my problem areas. Tried on quite a few,and discarded quite a few. Finally found one in Old Navy. I had checked it out online, and found it in store. When I was about to pay, the cashier and me had different ideas on the price. It was priced more on the store and Old Navy, unlike every other retailer would not match their own price . I have never heard of such a thing, and I am an avid shopper. I waked out of the store, without buying it. A few days later, Old Navy had a sale, and I got the same dress, at the reduced online price, from the same store. This was one confusing shopping expedition I must add.

While at the store I had tried on a Size Small, and a Size Extra Small, and decided on teh former. It did a better job of hiding imperfections. Sizing Up or Sizing down should always be checked out, as different styles, will fall differently on our bodies. Its a jersey dress with a flared style, and it works well on my body type.

You can go the super casual route of styling a Tshirt dress, by pairing it with a baseball cap, throwing on a shirt and slipping into some flipflops. I wanted to style it for a casual dinner date in Fall.Booties and dresses have a soft spot with me. I know I know , the weather is almost 90F, and it doesn't feel like Fall exactly now. Monochromes were what I was looking for in this outfit. So played by the blacks and whites, just with a hint of gold(Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace). A Fall Lip(Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creme - Rome) added the final touch.

If my liked my Contouring, and want to check out how I did it, then you can read abut it in details in this Post : MAKE UP FOREVER ARTIST FACE COLOR

So do you want to re-create a similar Outfit ? I have included some Budget options for everything I used.
